Schatten Design  Product Code  Description SDD3STD Schatten Dulcimer Pickup Schatten D-3 Std. Dulcimer Pickup The new Schatten D-3 Std. Dulcimer pickup is now available. We've created an outstanding pickup that combines great sound with simple and quick installation......and best of all, for most installations you don't have to modify a thing on your dulcimer as no holes have to be drilled and no screws are used. The D-3 Std. Dulcimer pickup mounts to the soundboard of any shape of dulcimer with a little bit of our special non-marring putty. A thin layer of the putty applied to the underside of the pickup attaches the piezo unit securely to the top of the instrument. The putty will not dry out and will not leave any residue on the instrument. The photo to the left shows the mounting of the piezo unit on the soundboard. On our particular instrument, the piezo unit just happens to partially cover one of the 'f' holes. The pickup mounting location on most instruments is approximately even with the last fret of the instrument. The piezo unit does not necessarily have to be near or over an 'f' hole or sound hole. This pickup has been designed to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp when plugged into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, etc.). The D-3 Std. comes complete with a rosewood bodied 1/4" output jack assembly and is fully wired and ready to use. For most installations, the jack assembly mounts securely to the end block of the dulcimer with the supplied 3M VHB foam mounting tape so no holes need be drilled in the instrument. Holes have been provided through the jack body should you want to attach the jack assembly with screws. D-3 Std. Dulcimer Pickup with rosewood jack assembly SDHD2 Hammered Dulcimer System Schatten HD2 Hammered Dulcimer Pickup Due to the size and construction of hammered dulcimers, we felt that the best balance and accuracy of sound reproduction could only be achieved by using two separate transducer sensing units. As we did with our piano pickup system, we've taken our incredibly responsive "dual element system" and applied it to our hammered dulcimer pickup to give you unsurpassed response and faithful, natural sound quality. The HD2 pickup system mounts quickly and easily to the underside of the hammered dulcimer with supplied double sided tape. Each transducer unit contains 2 separate piezos working in tandem to enhance sound quality and reduce the possibility of feedback. The units are strongly built and measure approximately 2 3/4" in length, 1 1/2" in width, and 1/2" in thickness. Each transducer is prewired to a 10 foot shielded Mogami cable with a heavy duty 1/4" output plug for stereo configurations. For Mono applications, a 1/4" 'Y' adapter is included. This pickup has been designed to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp when plugged into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.). If you require the added ability to be able to plug directly into a P.A. or mixer then you may wish to add one of our Preamp/DI units to your pickup system. Return to top of Page
